Croatia wrangle over Biscan call up ZAGREB, Nov 24 (Reuters) - Croatia coach Zlatko Kranjcar wants to pick Igor Biscan even though the national association maintains a tough stance against the Liverpool midfielder it banned from the national squad last year. 'I need Biscan for the World Cup campaign and I will call him up,' Kranjcar was quoted as saying by sports daily Sportske Novosti on Wednesday.
Biscan, 26, walked out on the eve of Croatia's Euro 2004 qualifier against Bulgaria in October 2003. He later said he was not motivated to play for Croatia and refused to apologise.
The Croatian FA banned Biscan from the national squad for a six-month period, which expired in June, but FA president Vlatko Markovic says the midfielder will not play for Croatia as long as the FA leadership remains in charge.
'I'm not interested what Kranjcar or anyone else says about Biscan. It is well known what the FA thinks about his action and its consequences,' he said.
Biscan joined Liverpool from Dinamo Zagreb in December 2000 for £3.5million.
Croatia are third in World Cup qualifying Group Eight Group, two points behind leaders Sweden.

Igor has had more involvement for Liverpool this season, and when played in his favoured position (MIDFIELD instead of Defence!) has looked like a much better player. I think there's a job he can do for Croatia, but what the Croatian FA decide is a different matter!
