Middlesbrough are on the trail of Croatia star Niko Kranjcar as manager Steve McClaren draws up his New Year spending plans.
Kranjcar, a 20-year-old midfielder, plays for Dinamo Zagreb, whose officials are understood to have held talks with Boro.
Barcelona and Juventus have also been linked with Kranjcar, who has won four full international caps.
A fee of around £2.5m is being mooted for the talented youngster, who has apparently jumped to the top of manager McClaren's wish-list following the news that Spain international Gaizka Mendieta will miss the rest of the season through injury. Source:Team Talk
Let's hope if he comes to the Premiership, he's rather more successful than most previous Croatian imports!

I doubt he will go to Boro, more likely Anderlecht, CSKA Moscow or Feyenoord who are offering more. Kranjcar has really dissapointed me this season, last season he was one of the top players in the HNL and this season he is unfit and can't even last a full match in the Croatian league.

Maybe because he is a fat thingy. He is 90kg which is unacceptable for a midfielder. He is like boban doesn't do much running but know what to do with the ball. Lets hope he gets back in shape and some better fitness
