Slaven Bilic, former Croatian International defender. Also played for West Ham and Everton as well as Hajduk Split
Interesting appoinment. He now has the task of bringing through the next generation of footballers, considering most of the current team (Ljubojevic, Pranjic, Kranjcar, Da Silva, Carevic etc) will move up to the national squad sometime in the near future.

Bilic has done a good job so far, I was really worried about the U21's after their 2-0 loss to Israel in a friendly match but in the last two qualifiers Croatia have beaten Hungary 1-0 in Velika Gorica and easily have beaten Sweden 2-0. The squad though is not the greatest, if you look at the lineup used only a handful play regular first team football. Our starting goalkeeper hasn't played a minute for his club (Cibalia now in second division) after a dispute with the managment. Also Bilic said that he was very concerned because many of his players don't play in the first team. Vranjic Vukman - Vucko - Bodrusic Pelaic - Marcic - Grgurovic - Benko Modric Ljubojevic - Da Silva *Vranjic hasn't played a minute...Vukman has played half of the Varteks matches..Vucko started two match for Hajduk..Bodrusic is a regular at Slaven..Pelaic is a regular at NK Zagreb but he is out of position..Marcic is a member of the Bordeaux youth team..Grgurovic comes off the bench sometimes for Hajduk..Benko is a regular at Varteks, very underrated player..Ljubojevic and Da Silva is the starting strike force for Dinamo (but for how long? with Karic coming in)
