Hi There, Tania Murphy, is a mother of two who urgently needs a bone marrow transplant to save her life. Tania was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia mid 2016 and despite there being about 28 million people registered on global bone marrow donor registries Tania has been told there are no compatible donors for her. This is due to her mixed Croatian/British Isles heritage. Tania has recently been told by her doctors the only lifeline left for her is a bone marrow transplant. She is unable to have any more chemotherapy if she were to come out of remission. Time is absolutely crucial. We have launched an awareness campaign on social media findtanadonor but we are very eager to organise bone marrow donor registration drives in the UK but as we don't have any Croatian contacts in the UK we have really struggled to rally help from the Croatian community. Bone marrow drives in the UK are very simple, its a matter of finding a venue within the right community (in our case Croatian), a date and a few volunteers to help. DKMS UK supply the oral swab kits and support on the day and we will advertise to get people there. Feel free to read more about Tania's story here: www.croatiaweek.com/update-on-tania-soldo-murphy-the-australian-croatian-in-search-of-a-donor/and here: www.findtanadonor.com/copy-of-faq-sWe are totally open to suggestions and any offers of help &/or advice. We are based in Australia. Kind Regards, Jacqui & Sara
