Just returned from two weeks in Croatia; one week in Zagreb and Vinkovci and one week in Pula and Rovinj. Loved the country, fuel great price compared with UK but the ripping off of the tourists that goes on on the coast is appalling, disgusting and lets all Croats down. In Zagreb we were charged for food, drinks and anything else we purchased the same prices as the locals. On the coast we were totally ripped off, charged 6 or 7 times the price locals paid for food or drinks. My wife tried to purchase 2 kilos of figs and 1 kilo of peaches and a watermelon. We watched as the seller asked local people for 10kn for peaches but asked us for 60kn. Watermelon was sold for 2kn per kilo but we were asked for 10kn per kilo. When my wife told the seller that she had just seen him charge far less to the woman before us, we were told "You tourists, you come here and have money, you pay" We work very hard and save all year to have two weeks away with our family somewhere nice and warm, with people who will treat us with respect. It is obviously not Croatia where that happens. We will not be going back even though we love the country and we hoped to make it regular holiday destination.

I knew that Croats were kind, welcoming and charming people and you just proved it. Oh, and by the way, bit of information that might help your boozed-up brain - I don't drink alcohol. And am not British...

Sorry about your bad experience in Croatia, basically CRO tourist season last only 3 months and people try to make as much money as possible in this short time. Next time come in off season.
