Not that many of us already don't know how to go about this, but I was recently given this book by the author (Martin Westby), which contains some very interesting and helpful information on the above subject.
The book covers the whole of Croatia, not just the coastal areas. It is an excellent guide for all those who are seriosly considering to buy a second/holiday/permanent home.
It has an entry about money transfers, airlines that fly to Croatia (I was not aware of some), car rental, PDV taxes on import (this seems to apply on your knackered furniture too)....
The bottom line is that buying over there does not seems as straightforward as it is in the UK, but it is no doubt well worth it!

Hi there, I am a young veterinarian based in Cambridge, and foolishly (?) I bought a stare kuce near Vodnjan/Pula in Istria about a year and a half ago. I have taken time out from work now (a) to come and learn Croatian and (b) to try and redevelop this wreck of a property! If you are also based out here (either in May-mid june or in July) and renovating a house - I would be delighted to hear from you. Moral support and an exchange of ideas would be much appreciated ! Sve najbolje Paul
