ZAGREB, Oct 11 (Reuters) - Substitute Ivica Olic sent Croatia into the Euro 2004 playoffs with the only goal in a 1-0 win over Group Eight winners Bulgaria on Saturday.
The CSKA Moscow striker, who replaced midfielder Darijo Srna at halftime, collected a brilliant pass from Dado Prso three minutes in the second half and shot home.
Croatia's victory was enough to clinch second place in the group, ahead of Belgium. Both sides finished with 16 points but Croatia have a better head-to-head record.
The hosts should have secured a more emphatic win, hitting the woodwork twice in the second half, while Prso also fired against the post.
Bulgaria threatened Croatia's goal on several occasions with striker Dimitar Berbatov missing his best opportunity two minutes from time when his close-range header went just wide.
