IGOR BISCAN was today told he will fill Steven Gerrard's boots against Chelsea on Sunday.
Gerard Houllier has confirmed the Croatian (left) is a definite starter against the Londoners in the Reds' Premiership opener.
Gerrard's one game ban has opened the door for Biscan, and Houllier is adamant the 25-year-old has the ability to fill the void.
"Igor will play. Definitely," Houllier said today.
"Salif Diao is not ready yet. He may be in contention to play some part, but he needs more games.
"I have confidence in Igor. He has already proved he is a fine defender and he can play in midfield. It's important for him to know he is playing so he will be ready."

Biscan desperately needs to prove himself at Liverpool. He hasn't really had the chance so far, he's played too few games and in too many positions. Unless he gets some stability, he'll be shown the door by the end of the season. Pity really, as he came highly recommended and has disappointed for whatever reason.

Chelsea have won at Liverpool only once in 60 years so I'm not expecting much even though I am a Chelsea fan.
Biscan's best position is centre defence. I saw him play there against AC Milan for Dinamo and he marked Shevchenko out of the game.
You think Liverpool would play him more as he is ugly enough to frighten players!!!

A truly shocking performance by Biscan yesterday. He looked completely out of his depth. Had no idea what to do when he got the ball and just wanted to get rid of it ASAP. I really can't see how Houllier can fit him into the centre of defence, so I think it's likely he'll be gone at the end of the season.

Yes, I agree. Biscan was really bad!
