We Croatians were ALL fascists, and Serbs were innocent victims. The people of Vukovar got what they deserved. There was no such thing as Greater Serbia, it was just poor Serb farmers protecting themselves... don't farmers in this country have tanks, artillery and fighter planes to protect themselves, too? Irony hey? Tell me exactly what the above quote's got to do with Laura's request before I take out my dictionary...

It is also worth remembering that most Croats from regions affected by war have been members of Ustasha movement during the Second World War and I don't think they would find England a friendly place. Germany and Austria are another matter altogether. Marko, you're an idiot...

Actually my ironic response was not to laura's question but to that ****** Dalmatinski Srbin posting his serbiancrappe.com website....
No doubt they'll say they were victims.... I was just trying to make the point that it's unusual for farmers and villagers to be tooled up with T-72 tanks. Makes you wonder if they weren't up to some kind of mischief?

An idiot ?
I am an idiot who is telling the truth. Most people from those areas voted for either SDS or HDZ (Croats) and HDZ were always dispositioned against Britain and France and were favourable to Germany. Hence, most of these refugees ended up in Germany and not in the UK. By and large, the Uk has always had a disproportionately large number of Serbs to Croats beucase of its' pro-Chetnik and pro-partizan sentiments during the Second World War.
I am fed up of discussing this subject time and time again.

I have a feeling that Laura doesn't exist at all, it is a fiction character made by some of you so you can discuss your favourite subjects.. Marko, "It is also worth remembering that most Croats from regions affected by war have been members of Ustasha movement during the Second World War " I would not agree with this. My grandfather was a partisan and most of the people from his area were. And he comes from a village in Imotska Krajina. This is just to advise you to work on stereotyping in your head. Same time Trogir for example was liberated from fascist occupation in October 1944 by partisan troops who were purely Dalmatians.

Thanks to all those who have taken the time to respond. I did not mean to cause any offence and apologise if my enquiry was misplaced. I asked here as the board is named "Croats in the UK" so I hoped there might be some people from Croatia who have moved to Britain and whose circumstances might match those I am researching. It is indeed personal experiences and opinions which form the focus of my interest.
I can promise I am not fictional- so those who do feel they can help, please still get in touch! Otherwise, if I have been insensitive, please accept my apologies and ignore the post.

Marko fantazira.
Laura,
I am sure if somebody decides to get in touch they will email you directly so don't get dismayed by this thread. We can't help it, self bashing is what we do best. I'd help if I could but I did not flee the war so as a subject I'd be useless to you. Good Luck with your research.
