Performer
Croatian pianist, Diana Brekalo, was born and brought up in Stuttgart, and is of Croatian descent. Her studies in Germany with Hartauer and M. Giurgiuman revealed her talents not only as in imaginative and thoughtful solo pianist, but as notable accompanist and fine chamber musician. By the age of twelve, Brekalo had already won six first prizes in the German ‘Jugend musiziert’.
Diana is a prize winner of numerous national and international piano competitions. In 2004 she began studying with Prof. S.Rudiakov at the Musikhochschule Stuttgart and, in 2006, she came to London to undertake further studies at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama. Here she was under the guidance of Joan Havill, having gained a distinction in the Bachelor of music (Hons) as well as in her Master of Music (performance) and she was supported by numerous grants and awards.
Diana Brekalo has performed in renowned concert halls throughout Croatia, Europe, USA, Japan and China and has featured in live broadcasts on TV and radio. In the UK she has performed at the Wigmore Hall, Cadogan Hall, St.James Piccadilly, St.John’s Smith Square, Bridgewater Hall, Fairfield Halls, and with numerous professional orchestras including the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra, Stuttgart Philharmonic Orchestra and Dubrovnik Symphonie Orchestra.
Diana had her début with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra at Cadogan Hall in April 2011. She performed two Piano Concertos in one concert, a world premiere of English composer Peter Fribbins and Shostakovich’s Piano Concerto No.1. In May 2012 her live CD from her début with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra at Cadogan Hall was released to great acclaim and she now works at the Musikhochschule in Würzburg.
